This write-up is all about our consensus number-three quarterback in the 2023 rookie class. Kentucky Quarterback Will Levis has shown some elite NFL upside but also some red flags. So let’s get into it.

Will Levis graduated from Penn State in 2021 and is completing his Masters while enrolled at Kentucky. While enrolled at PSU, Levis was unable to beat out Trace McSorley and Sean Clifford, so he entered the transfer portal.
This is of little concern because we have seen many NFL-caliber players who transferred due to roster clogging. Will Levis have the mechanics, arm, and footwork to be an excellent Quarterback at the next level? So let’s take a look at his career.

A 3-star recruit who committed to Penn State in 2017, Will Levis began his career as a backup until he decided to enter the transfer portal and take his talents to Kentucky.
Levis had the luxury of being paired with an up-and-coming offensive mind in Liam Coen, who served under Sean McVay in LA as a WR and QB coach for three years. Under Coen, you will see that Levis was able to put up his best year statistically as well as team-wise for the Wildcats.
We did see some minor regression in the 2022 season for the Wildcats’ signal caller. I would contribute a lot of that to the fact that the team lost its best Wide Receiver in Wan’Dale Robinson and three offensive linemen.
The biggest factor, however, was the loss of Liam Coen, who returned to be the Offensive Coordinator for the LA Rams in the 2022 season. He was replaced with 20-plus years of experience in Rick Scangarello.
Despite his longevity in the coaching industry, Scangarello has struggled as an offensive mind. In his one season of OC experience, he had the Denver Broncos as the 28th-worst ing offense.

Will Levis has the arm strength to make any NFL throw.
Velocity Control
While not great at it, he has shown the ability to use velocity to zip in a into tight spaces but also uses touch to lay it over defenders.
Scrambling Ability
While he doesn’t have legs like Jalen Hurts or Kyler Murray, he has some sneaky rushing upside.

Too much trust in his arm at times and just plain bad decisions have led to 23 career interceptions through 2 years as a starter.
Reading Defenses
I worry that this is what will cause him to drop in the draft if he doesn’t test well in the combine interviews. He struggles when defenses disguise coverage.

Coupled with his decision-making, he just takes too many risks when slinging the rock.
