RTU Bantamweight Fight: Van Y Nghiem vs Rui Imura i5o55
Card Start Time: Friday (5/23), 10:00am EST (UFC TV)
For my first regional pick of the weekend, I like the Vietnamese fighter, Van Y Ngheim, to score as an underdog. The main reason is the difference I see in the two fighters’ striking.
Imura has some solid striking in there. He wades forward, switching stances, which helps him close the distance. He’s quick, but ultimately uses that quickness in an offensive manner and not enough on defense. That’s where I see the gap.
Ngheim has the defensive part of his game down. He has solid fundementals and the ability to crack hard on the counters when he makes you miss. Being that Imura doesn’t defend well against counters leads me to believe we’ll see one end the night from Ngheim.
