Top Fantasy Basketball Sleepers for 2023/24 6g2146

Scottie Barnes – Toronto – SF/PF – ADP: 55 3m3m3n

Scottie Barnes didn’t take the leap forward last season like everyone – especially the Raptors – hoped and expected. Other than assists, which jumped up to 4.8 per game, all his other stats remained static – or dropped – from his rookie year. I’m expecting the leap to occur this season.

No, he can’t shoot, but that is pretty much his only weakness (and who knows – maybe he’s improved over the summer – he’s only 22, after all). He’ll help you in every other category, plus with Fred VanVleet out of town, he’ll have the ball in his hands more to create. Getting him in the 55 range could end up being a steal.

Cameron Johnson – Brooklyn – SF/PF – ADP: 66 6s274f

Shooting is NOT an issue with Cameron Johnson, although his three-point accuracy did drop to 37% when he was wearing a Nets jersey. The up-and-coming Brooklyn Nets should be a perfect home for Johnson, and he’ll have a much larger role than he did in Phoenix (probably the third man on the totem pole after Mikael Bridges and Spencer Dinwiddie). He brings value in every category, other than blocks, and should produce much higher fantasy numbers with a full season on the Nets coming up.

Khris Middleton – Milwaukee – SF/PF – ADP: 85 5h1f9

Khris Middleton had an injury-plagued, lost season last year for the Milwaukee Bucks. But that could be good news for you for this season. Before last year, Middleton was a consistent top 35 fantasy player who you may be able to grab down in the 80-90 range in your draft this year.

Yes, he’s getting up there in years, but last year was the only season other than 2016/17 that he missed significant time due to an injury. Plus, if you’re getting him around pick 85, you’re getting a discount to reflect this risk.

Daniel Gafford – Washington – PF – ADP: 100 p6gm

Quality big men are always a tough find in fantasy basketball, so getting a young one with room for upside in Daniel Gafford in around the ninth round of your draft shouldn’t be underestimated. Gafford was the 63rd best fantasy basketball player last season, so even if he just puts up similar numbers this season, you’re ahead. But with Kristaps Porzingis out of town and the Wizards rebuilding, Gafford should have a much bigger role to play.

John Collins – Utah – PF – ADP: 104 3hs3a

John Collins’s stock bottomed out last season, but it’s hard to make much of a mark when the two starting guards on your team are taking 37 shots a game. Now, with a fresh lease on his basketball life in Utah, expect Collins’s fantasy production to be much improved this coming season. He should get much more opportunity away from Atlanta’s Trae Young-centric offense, and you could be getting a real deal at pick 104. This is a guy who put up 22 & 11 with two blocks a few seasons ago.
